In addition to her work designing and teaching graduate courses for music educators, she is a frequent presenter at music educators' conferences and workshops, and is in demand as a mentor for student teachers from various colleges and universities. She has served two terms as national vice president of the Organization of American Kodály Educators and five terms as president of Maryland United Specialists in Kodály. While engaging in Kodály-inspired public school teaching for the past thirty-two years, Mrs. Huggins has also designed curricula for the Baltimore County school system and the Preparatory Department of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, authored a number of textbooks, served as a columnist for the national journal, The Kodály Envoy, served on the theory faculty of the Peabody Preparatory Department and the teaching staff of the Children's Chorus of Maryland, and is well known in the Baltimore area as a private teacher of piano and voice. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of the International Kodály Society.
