PREREQUISITES

AKI is a graduate program for music educators who hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Music or
Music Education.  Under certain circumstances, students whose undergraduate degree is not in
music but have an extensive musical background may apply, with the approval of the director.

Level I courses are prerequisites for Level II courses.  Level II courses are prerequisites for Level
III courses.  Level I students who need an introduction to, or brush-up of, sight singing/ear training
skills must take the
Solfa Fundamentals course during Special Studies Week prior to taking Solfa
I
.  There are no prerequisites for Solfa Fundamentals or Level IV courses.

Due to the unique content of AKI courses and the number of credits each course carries, transfer
credits from other institutions are not accepted.
